I haven't been very active lately and it's because I was sucked in both of those games. This is going to be a small review about those two games. Don't worry, this is not an in-depth analysis but simply my appreciation of the games as a Kamen Rider Otaku.
All rider: Kamen rider Generation 2
Let's start with Kamen rider Generation 2, shall we?
My very limited grasp of the Japanese language only caused me a single problem. Understanding what I was doing in the shop.
What the.... |
Of course, I couldn't understand anything that was said during the story but it did not affect my experience at all.
Each rider has a wide variety of moves like in the first game. I was very happy to see a great number of new riders but as I thought, I ended up using the ones I prefer and neglecting the others. When I wanted to use my weaker ones, I had to train them but going through a level I've already completed is not very interesting to me. Overall it still was pretty good
One of my major gripes with the game is Fourze. You can use all 40 switches, oh that's great and all but I ended up using only the basic 4 ones and some states change. It's way too complicated and breaks the flow of the game when you change switches.
You have to open this menu EVERY TIME. |
The art style resembles one of an anime, which fits quite well with the universe of kamen riders.
Once again, musics are not from the original shows, It's kind of a bummer to me. It would be great if when you start a finisher, the music changed depending on the rider you are but it doesn't.
What about the gameplay? It's fun, engaging and very intuitive so anyone can take it and learn to play in a matter of minutes.
Do I recommend the game? Yeah, sure. It's a fun game and every Kamen rider fans should at least play it, you can play as the team of your dreams and beat legendary foes such as Core from the movie with OOO and W! The game is pretty good and it looks great, it's portable so you can take it wherever you go.

Kamen rider: Climax Heroes Fourze
And now for Climax heroes Fourze! I know, I know, It's been out for almost a year now but I've just discovered it and been hooked since my last post here.
Note that the game is an arcade fighter which is a style I never really liked. Oh, I,ve played my share of Street fighter or Mortal Kombat but I never really got into it. I think I was more of a Dragon Ball Z Budokai (all of them, even the Tenkaichis) guy anyway.
Well, I pretty much fell in love with this game. The Riders look real, as if I was watching the shows and seeing a bunch of riders fighting each other is always satisfying!
Mastering the controls was already a bigger
challenge, well, it IS a fighting game after all but every rider has it's own gimmicks, may it be a transformation, a summon, cards, name it.
I can't say if the levels' music are from the shows but they do reflect the feel from the different universes. I do know, though, that when a finishing move is triggered an instrumental BGM from the show of the rider starts playing. Faix has "people with no name" playing, Kabuto has "Lord of speed", Kiva has "Destiny's play", etc.
Each character has multiple "versions". Let me explain. If you chose Faix, for example, You can have the version where he transforms into accel form, the version where he transforms into Blaster mode, the versions where he doesn't transform but can summon Auto vajin or the version where he does not transform and his in team with another rider.
Each version has a different finisher and gimmick. The finishers, or Hissatsu attack are BRU-TAL. I never get tired seeing them. Some of my favorites are Kiva's normal form rider kick and Faiz's accel form rider kick.
This game is definitely a must for fans of Kamen riders. The roster is great but I sure hope in the next one they add even more!
